Best Counter-Protest EVAH!!!

by CynthiaYockey on March 27, 2010

I’m still crying from the genius of UIS student Jason Connell’s approach to protesting a demonstration by Democrat Fred Phelp’s Westboro Baptist Church, which I found in BuzzFeed.

Pity we can’t see their faces when they get the thank you cards.

Very, very cool.

God Bless Jason, these people are like vampires – who feed on negative emotions….and he figured out a way to starve them.

What a topping idea. It’s not easy to find ways to fight hate with love and charity. Good on him!

If I understand embedding correctly, the following should bring you another bit of springtime cheer:

A drawing in your honor, Cynthia, if it displays.

Cynthia Yockey March 29, 2010 at 2:34 pm

Serapia,

Thank you for the drawing — I don’t see it displaying and the HTML is not showing up. Is there a URL?

Cynthia

Serapia March 29, 2010 at 3:04 pm

Here’s a link — I uploaded it to photobucket:

Well, anyhow, I hope that’s the link (I’m new to photobucket)

Terrific drawing Serapia! I’m sending it to my friends too.

Serapia March 31, 2010 at 11:54 am

Ad rem —

Glad to hear you’re sharing the drawing with friends! That’s why I drew it. But if someone ever got the urge to put it on a T-shirt or mug and sell it, though, I ‘d like the royalties ๐Ÿ™‚

Soon I’ll post a similar drawing, but with the rattlesnakes both wearing bow-ties instead. The photobucket account is Xana_and_the_Turtle, here: http://s820.photobucket.com/home/Xana_and_the_Turtle

I heard you on Rush today!

You coming to Smittypalooza III?

Cynthia Yockey March 29, 2010 at 2:38 pm

Jeff Weimer,

Do you think I should call in more often?

About Smittypalooza III — I would have to hire someone to look after my father. If my dear gentle readers feel inspired to donate — I need a total of $100 — then I would LOVE to go.

Hi Cynthia!

Heard you on the radio. Good for you for standing up for your beliefs. You’re a true individual thinker and a hero for standing up for gay rights and for conservative economics.

mary quite-contrary March 29, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Cynthia…I found your blog from HillBuzz, and have stopped by, and always enjoy your writing… I just heard you on Rush’s show (with Mark Steyn). Excellent, excellent phone call…well done, and well spoken ๐Ÿ™‚

Heard you on Mark Styen. Very nice. I didn’t know you lived in the birthplace of John Wilkes Booth. -:)

Good job!

Mike March 29, 2010 at 2:10 pm

Cynthia –

I heard you on Rush today with Mark Steyn. God bless you and keep up the good fight! It’s difficult to be a conservative, and doubly difficult if you’re gay. But the beauty of conservatism is how it respects the individual and private property. It supports and thrives in a free market economy – with government property restrained. It also dictates that our rights flow from God – not from some government bureaucrat. What’s happening in our government right now is an abomination and will only result in tyranny.
So sorry to hear about losing your partner, and that your Dad is sick. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Ever,
Mike

Good job Jason. That is positive, yet will drive Fred Phelps and his clan of haters a bit nuttier.

In a related bit, perhaps some of us conservatives can donate to Sarah Palin’s PAC in the name of Andrew Sullivan and Bill Maher. And to The Other McCain in the name of Charles Johnson. Just for fun. Just for fun.

Seriously though, Jason, you are doing a great job.

Kim Priestap March 29, 2010 at 5:14 pm

What a great idea! Simply brilliant.

Bravo, Jason.

Dang, I wish I’d found this blog sooner. Missed you on Steyn! ๐Ÿ™

Anyhoo, I love this guy (Jason). Thinks like a Libertarian, he does. ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay. Back to nursing my Palin obsession now. Bookmarking you.

Peace.

Serapia,

See if Blogger will let you sell your own products (free WordPress won’t; I don’t know about Typepad). Then check out CafePress, Zazzle and others, which can print-on-demand.
