Honest to goodness, first I started looking for “Red River Valley” because of the flooding, but I couldn’t find any version that didn’t make me sob. The House will vote on Obamacare soon, so there’s already a big enough reason to cry today. So then I switched to looking for old-timey music from my hillbilly heritage when it crossed my mind that a friend who plays autoharp recently re-connected with me on Facebook. And when I searched YouTube for autoharp music, this popped up near the top. Well, I live in Bel Air, Maryland, birthplace of John Wilkes Booth, our contribution to the nation’s heritage, so naturally it caught my eye. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. It’s a remarkably bouncy, optimistic little tune, isn’t it?

I had to turn it ‘way up because of my increasing deafness and I’m sure I missed a lot, anyway. Still it was nice to hear some melody in music, something that is missing in too much of the modern stuff.

Thanks for your mention, albeit brief, of HCR. I wasn’t sure how you felt about it, as you haven’t discussed it much. Glad to be reassured that we’re on the same page. 🙂
ps. Hope Dad and the kitties are well.
Ad rem,
Obamacare must be repealed. Henry McMaster, South Carolina’s Attorney General, was just on the phone on Fox News telling Greta Van Susteren that the bill is unconstitutional because the Constitution does not give the federal government the right to force people to buy a product and if we don’t stop this we don’t know how much farther down this road Obama and the Democrats want to take us. He’s going to file suit against Obamacare after it is signed in coordination with the attorneys general of several other states.
Last night also was a watershed in terms of the Democrats finally ripping off the mask and all pretenses of a benign centrism. Al Sharpton said that people wanted socialism when they voted for Obama and that socialism is what the Democrats are delivering.
I am determined to work to get the Obamacare healthcare reform law repealed. We can do this.
I was astonished that Michael Steele spoke right after Sharpton and vowed to repeal Obamacare. Good for him. I’m also surprised, but very happy, that Sen. John McCain is vowing that the American people will get this bill repealed. It’s just not real healthcare reform — but it IS real totalitarianism, and THAT was why it was imposed. I think we should consider the possibility that Obama/Pelosi/Reid are not worried about the elections in November because they intend to suspend them. After all, THEY know what’s best for us, so why should we be allowed to vote and have a say?
Cynthia
P.S.
Dad and the kitties are well! Thank you! New Polar Bear is snoozing in the cat bed next to my monitor. (Old Polar Bear passed away in 2006.) Yes, photos are coming.
Cynthia,
Thank you so much for the long reply. I too worry about the possible suspension of the coming elections. Perhaps we are seeing the beginnings of a civil war?
