Today Obama built on his previous new lowest approval rating of -16 yesterday to plummet to his newest new low of -19 today. I wonder what is making American voters so testy with Obama — so “ungovernable.” (Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee!)
Wasn’t getting the Nobel Peace Prize in a box of Cracker Jacks on Dec. 10 supposed to burnish Obama’s image and plump his popularity? Or did Americans listen to his acceptance speech and conclude the Obama Doctrine for peace and war is to do — what? In that speech, didn’t he really announce that he has no idea how to intimidate foes who have no fear of being called RAAAAACISTS?
Perhaps it was the revelation that the Senate’s version of the healthcare reform legislation will have lifetime caps on care. So, there will not be much call for death panels, after all. You will hit your limit and then you’re Soylent Green. Just lie back, think of America and all that carbon you won’t be exhaling any more.
Or, perhaps word is getting around that Obama’s pledge to skyrocket energy costs for every consumer and business with cap-and-trade legislation is founded on the biggest scientific hoax in history and that it was perpetrated with the intention of destroying capitalism while enriching the hoaxers. I hate when that happens.
And here I thought he’d bowed to some king, emperor, prince, or totalitarian dictator…
That’s off, my opinion of him isn’t any lower than it was in July of ’08.

I LOVE your writing style. Plus, you make some great points about how Obama is governing worse than John Kerry would: Kerry at least has the sense to lick his finger and stick it into the wind.

I don’t recall ever bringing John Kerry into the discussion, since he ran against Bush. I AM belatedly glad that Bush won, though. Did you mean John McCain? He would be a better president than Obama and so would Sarah Palin.

I recently watched the 1957 film “A Face in the Crowd”, directed by Elia Kazan, and starring Andy Griffith as an impoverished ex-con in a small Southern jail who is discovered by a radio station reporter (Patricia Neal) who hires him when he gets out of jail, and he rises from populist folk hero to megalomaniacal superstar. My train of thought throughout much of the film was “that’s just like Oprah!” Except the jail part, of course.
So what were the ratings of this slobbering debacle?

Obama definitely has brought out something ugly in Oprah. I don’t know what the ratings of the Oprah/Obama Christmas special were. The thing to watch will be whether Obama gets a popularity bump in a few days. He’s up one point today to -18. I wonder how Oprah will react to being thrown under the bus again if/when Obama finds her insufficiently useful.
As for “A Face in the Crowd,” I thought Andy Griffith was terrific in that role, but I couldn’t bear watching it because of the moment when he doesn’t know the microphone is live when he is disparaging his fans. Oprah dumped the audiences she didn’t like years ago when she shifted away from Phil Donahue-like shows, but in such a way that no one got angry with her about it.
