Charles Krauthammer’s Aug. 28 column declares Obamacare 1.0 (its current form) dead and makes sensible proposals for a universal healthcare bill he dubs Obamacare 2.0 that he believes could get passed. Why, it even leaves out tort reform. However, the column takes a mordant turn at the end when Dr. Krauthammer notes that such a program would result in the dreaded healthcare rationing and death panels sooner, rather than later. So I do not believe he really supports the alternative he proposes.
However, I must take Dr. Krauthammer to task for failing to note the themes that unite all of Obama’s signature proposals: first, their stated purpose and their real purpose are never the same; and second, the real purpose is nefarious: destroying capitalism, destroying democracy, establishing socialism, destroying our military, destroying the security of our borders, paying off supporters, destroying Israel and so on.
The purpose of Obamacare is NOT to establish universal healthcare. The purpose of Obamacare is to transform the U.S. from a capitalist economy to a socialist society. Obamacare will establish socialism by forcing high rates of taxation, destroying initiative by denying people the majority of the fruits of their labors and forcing government intrusion into every aspect of people’s lives.
Obama will only support an Obamacare bill that will establish socialism. He will tell any lie and play every dirty trick to make that happen. Nothing else will do. Dr. Krauthammer, if you do not understand that these are the new rules of the game under Obama, you should stop giving advice until you do. This doesn’t mean you should leave the room, as you so crazily suggested Gov. Palin do before you co-opted her objections to the death panels and peddled them as your own. Just stop talking until you’ve observed the patient enough to understand his pathology. THEN I expect you will have some very trenchant observations indeed.
I can’t understand it. Dr. Krauthammer is a very well-educated man. I owe what little education I have to the public library. Yet I can figure out what these Washington types are trying to do and it goes right over Krauthammer’s head.

I half wonder if the whole health care thing isn’t also designed to distract what they’re going to try to do to the census next year. They are going to try to get legislation through that allows them “estimate” the homeless and use those made up figures to increase representation in democratic districts: essentially gerrymandering the whole country. I think very public efforts to stop that crap need to start right now.

Peter, I think it’s Dr. Krauthammer’s very education that’s getting in the way of his common sense. He’s too busy being “educated” to just be smart. Cynthia called Obama a while back, and I was relieved to see someone else saying what I’ve been saying–the man is a sociopath. He doesn’t think like normal people think.
Laura, I’m not sure that Obama thinks much anyway. I don’t really believe he is smart enough to realize that he’s nothing but a ventriloquist’s dummy for some real monsters.

This is what is truly frightening about this administration. They are on an agenda to reach radical ends and they are none too concerned about realities that stand in their way (e.g. tanking the economy, foreign foes, we the people). To say that the next 3 years are going to be rough is a huge understatement.

And this is why the typical uninformed, misinformed, guided-by-emotion folks who think of themselves as “liberal” think we’re crazy. They know ONLY what the stated purpose is; they have no suspicions of a hidden agenda, and no interest in finding out anything for themselves (such as reading a bill) and they are angry and amazed that the rest of us aren’t going along happily. They are being used by the true leftists.
Krauthammer is one of my favorite people to listen to and read, but lately I’ve disagreed with him more than not.

Dr. Krauthammer said on Fox News right after the election, as I recall, that he was one of a handful of columnists invited to a private dinner in Chevy Chase (or Georgetown) with Obama and that he had been so charmed that he had come over to being “in the tank” for Obama. Of course, Obama knew what Dr. Krauthammer would want to hear to be won over and said everything he wanted to hear. Even for a psychiatrist like Dr. Krauthammer, it can be hard to believe somone is a sociopath who never intended to deliver on the promise when they have glib reasons why there will be a delay, or you are wrong and there was never any promise, or you are a bad person for expecting the promise to be kept.
And you are right about the “typical uninformed … who think of themselves as ‘liberal’ think we’re crazy” — they have no idea they are being manipulated and exploited on the basis of their idealism, that they are “useful idiots” being scammed, that the Left/Democratic Party is, and has for decades, been comprised of leaders who get that they must spout ideals to get power, but care nothing for the ideals because to them, power is the only thing that matters — oh, and money! — and the sheep they herd and milk and shear and lead to slaughter will never get delivery on those promises.

I didn’t know that about Krauthammer attending the Obamanism dinner. It’s too bad, as he has a good mind and masterful use of language. Krauthammer, I mean.
The poor deluded liberals, whom I believe to be driven by their emotion and genuine desire for “things to be better for all people,” are being used, and nothing else. Makes me sad, because I have loved ones in that camp, as I’m sure you do too. Any person or group of persons, who have actually been, or can be manipulated into thinking they have been, disenfranchised, are eagerly gobbled up by the left and made to believe that they, the left, want what they want and will help them get it. Liberals act out of, as you said, ideology, and the left want ONLY power and money, and I think power is the overriding draw.

I agree with you that most of the liberal base is idealistic and being used. I really do have to re-read Animal Farm, which laid out the process and the psychologies of the various types of people in it with great accuracy. I’m starting to see the Left as idealists led by sociopaths. I don’t know if the Democratic Party I grew up in allowed real idealists to reach positions of leadership, but if it does now, I think they are quickly either exploited as useful idiots or ruthlessly weeded out and have no idea what hit them.
