On Saturday evening I caught the last half hour of a two-hour documentary called “We’re All Angels” on Logo. (It will be repeated at 10 am on May 11.) It’s about the singing duo Jason Warner and deMarco DeCiccio who perform as Jason and deMarco. They are Christian, openly gay and a couple — they married in California before Prop 8 passed.
The above clip from “We’re All Angels” features their producer, Alan Lett, and his mother, who speaks beginning about three minutes in about her feelings as a Christian about having an openly gay son. Initially she wanted to throw him out for being gay.
Here are Jason and deMarco talking about their experiences as Christians realizing that they are gay, integrating both these worlds into a whole and finding one another:
Jason and deMarco performing “This Is Love” — I adore their sweetness and devotion to one another and how this video shows a daily life of love:
Moms? Are the best. You can just tell that in the end she was never gonna let anybody tell her she couldn’t love her baby no matter what. It’s sad for me to think there are mommas out there who would really let their children go for such a “crime”. This clip gave me goosebumps that were actually painful, so thanks for that Cynthia.
I think these guys are great and this is a huge step towards breaking down the idea that gay + Christian = does not compute. While some parts of the OT do specifically reference boys having sex with each other as being wrong (I saw a bible verse on a truck window once and I looked it up when I got home. I was appalled that someone would drive around with that shit as like, their big issue. True story.) the fundamental flaw in this is that if you are a Christian, then you know that God made everybody. Even teh gheys. And God don’t make no junk.
But I couldn’t watch the whole third video, because even though I do so love two boys all kissing up on each other (a fact which freaks DH out, which I have no idea why, he can watch two girls kissing all day long, men are such pigs!) I just don’t find these two attractive. I do recognize that they are cute, they’re just not my type.
Good find, sistah.
