Understanding Obama: learn the four types of enablers of narcissists

by CynthiaYockey on November 13, 2009

Conservative Pup is a nurse and she was disturbed by Obama’s cold and inappropriate behavior right after the Ft. Hood mass murder — you do not do “shout outs” just before announcing a mass murder unless you are doing a comedy skit or you have a sociopathic lack of empathy.

Come to find that a LOT more people are searching Google with key phrases like, “is Obama a narcissist” now than when I checked in February.

But the Pup also found an author who describes the four types of people who enable narcissists, and I think this is so useful a contribution to my occasional series on how to recognize Obama’s sociopathy that I will link and quote it here — do go to Pup’s, though, and read the whole thing:

Dr. Sam Vaknin, an expert on narcissism, identifies four types of people who aid and facilitate narcissists: the adulators, the blissfully ignorant, the self-deceiving, and those deceived by the narcissist. Dr. Vaknin continues:

“The adulators are fully aware of the nefarious and damaging aspects of the narcissist’s behaviour but believe that they are more than balanced by the benefits — to themselves, to their collective, or to society at large. They engage in an explicit trade-off between some of their principles and values — and their personal profit, or the greater good.

“They seek to help the narcissist, promote his agenda, shield him from harm, connect him with like-minded people, do his chores for him and, in general, create the conditions and the environment for his success. This kind of alliance is especially prevalent in political parties, the government, multinational, religious organizations and other hierarchical collectives.”

Does this remind you of anyone? Then go to Conservative Pup’s and read the rest.

Thanks Cynthia, for the link and for the add to your blogroll. I added you as well. When I read this article by Dr. Vaknin, it answered a question I’ve puzzled over for more than a year. How can otherwise seemingly smart people NOT see him clearly?

It continues to puzzle and amaze, but I can sadly see my various friends and family members perfectly described, primarily in the blissfully ignorant category and the just plain deceived. The really sad part is that they likely think me as deranged as I think they are.

Conservative Pup,

Thank you and you’re welcome! My friends are also in the ignorant and deceived categories and I expect they see me as deranged, too. Now that I know about the kinds of stories that get suppressed or trivialized by the mainstream news media — ACORN, Obama’s election fraud (e.g., turning off the address verification system for online donations), Obama’s betrayals of the gay and lesbian community, and more — I can see how they look for verification to the sources they trust and since those sources are corrupt, but they don’t know or won’t believe it, and these sources contradict what we are saying, then we’re the ones who look bad. We just have to keep telling them to match what Obama says with what he does since there’s always a big disconnect between the two — or even to listen to him 100 percent of the time and not just when he says things they agree with, since he usually says and/or does something opposite after all of his big pronouncements to appease or delude the people his pronouncement offends. You can’t just listen to a sample of his narrative and assume it is representative of the whole — he constantly says things that are opposite or mutually exclusive on the usually correct assumption that people only listen to him when he’s saying something they agree with and tune out everything else.

The terrible beauty of the irony, which was lost to the inhabitants of the echo chamber, was that the only two voices in the chamber, belonged to the narcisist and her enabler.

Here’s a song you might enjoy. That’s a bit telling if you listen closely.

Also think about from the perspective of a (thinking) Obama voter.

Nathan Cossey,

Yes, that’s a song for survivors of narcissists, all right — a lot of independents who voted for Obama because they assumed the MSM would tell them if he were lying or had anything in his character, beliefs or background that should bar him from the presidency are just starting to grasp the magnitude of the deception worked on them and they should really identify with this song.

Hmmmm I wonder if we can make a web video using Obama and certain others with that song.

i just came across this post. Thank you for putting this up, iot’s very valuable.
i find that much of the material here applies to the Palestinian Arabs and their enablers. Same dynamic exactly, along with the Jew hatred.

best wishes.
