NOW I know why Gay Patriot denounces Barney Frank so often

I’ve been reading Gay Patriot since last fall, but I have been puzzled all that time about why Gay Patriot and Daniel Blatt (formerly known as Gay Patriot West) hated, denounced and ridiculed Democratic Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank with so much venom.

Until today when I saw a few minutes of Barney Frank’s psychotic rants against his constituents who object to Obamacare at one of his town meetings on CNN this afternoon. And now I am up to speed.

First Frank went crazy over a question from a woman comparing Obama to Hitler — the era in which it was patriotic to compare the U.S. president to Hitler when you objected to his policies appears to have ended at 11:59 am, January 20, 2009. CNN failed to report that the woman is a Lyndon LaRouche Democrat, according to John McCormack of the Weekly Standard (H/T Memeorandum). Details, details. But Obamacare is a totalitarian program that seems structured more to destroy capitalism than to provide healthcare and there really IS a basis for the comparison. A sane person could have answered the question without the histrionics Frank employed.

Then when anyone booed, Frank took the opportunity for additional rants about how insulting your opponent in a debate is unfruitful. These amounted to hypocrisy because in the next breath he would insult the people who disagreed with him without any awareness of the obvious irony that he was revealing he wanted nothing less than a fruitful dialog. Toward this end he also made his rants very long, in order to filibuster and run out the clock.

CNN’s commentator said Frank is like this all the time.

So that is that between Barney Frank and me.

  1. Next thing we know you will discover that Teddy Kennedy really did leave Mary Jo Kopechne to die, alone, for no other reason than to protect his political career from a DWI charge.

Seriously, you’ve been too busy in your life to notice but leftists always claim to love humanity, it’s people they cannot stand. Anytime and anywhere the left wins it’s like the population all lives on the first floor of a two story outhouse.

  2. Barney Frank is a hissy fit throwing embarrassment to America.
If a conservative senator/representitive behaved half as childish and petulant as he does (all the time) , his constituents would drum him out of office.

But if you say such things, the media just labels you homophobic, just like they label anyone opposing Obama as a racist regardless of the reasons.

    1. Graumgagus,

I only wish the MSM ever came to the defense of lesbians and gays. No, liberals have us right under the bus and lesbians and gays continue to delude themselves that there is a grand plan liberals have to one day grant us equality. Hah!

No, if you criticize Barney Frank, you are a right-wing extremist or a wingnut, not a homophobe. The left-wing is overflowing with constituencies that want gays dead and feel it is their holy duty to kill us (illegal aliens, Hispanics, Muslims, Black Liberation Theology ministers and their congregations). The MSM does not risk the wrath of those groups by standing up for gays and lesbians in any practical way, shape or form.

  3. Well, I’ll have to track down the rest of the clip to really decide but I can’t say I saw him freakout at all. Would you really have expected a serious response to the question, “. . . why do you continue to support a Nazi policy?”

Psychotic rants? Really. Yes, he insulted her with his dining room table comment but, damn. . . can’t see the upside in discussion with someone starting out from that position. I don’t tolerate it well when either side resorts to the defamation of calling opponents Nazis. Soup Nazi is pretty funny because it’s so completely out of context and clearly for purposes of humor and absurdity. I didn’t accept people calling Bush a Nazi, despite how I felt about some of his more onerous policies and I don’t accept the label for Obama either.

    1. Eric,

“Your guy is Hitler” and “people who disagree with me are Nazis” are traditional opening statements in liberal discussions, so sane liberals can see them coming and handle them appropriately. Unhinged liberals cannot. I just didn’t know before the degree to which Barney Frank is unhinged. He’s really out there.

Also, I don’t think the comparison of Obama to Hitler and Obamacare to Nazism are crazy at all. It really does look like Obama’s intention with healthcare reform is to drive the U.S. toward socialism and totalitarianism. And I don’t have time right now to look up the citation because I really should have started making my father’s dinner a half hour ago (I was working on the post about quadriplegic Marc Buoniconti), but I recall reading recently that nationalized healthcare was one of the tools that Hitler used to lure the German people into accepting totalitarian control. Also, there are valid comparisons into the amount of control both Hitler and Obama want over individual health choices, including diet. It may be time to re-read Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg.

  4. Oddly, Cynthia, it is us rabid right wing Christians who will come to the aid of gays attacked by Muslims, black liberation theology types, etc. It seems that very few, besides us, remember the horrors of the 1930s and 1940s. Thus we see gays and Jews marching in the same parade as “Palastinian” nationalists.

Meanwhile those of us in the rightwing Christian movement may disagree with you to our dying breath, we’ll still come to your aid because if the other side ever wins and starts with you, we are next. And we know it.
