Somehow this interview reminds me of the times I would be transferring Margaret from her wheelchair to something else depending on the place — a lift chair at our yogic flying program, a lift chair at the pool — where my attention would be totally focused on her until I had her settled and often when I looked up I would see someone staring at us who would look away and dab at a tear. People respect love and devotion. (And love and devotion deserve equality. What? Like I would let that go.)

Over at Legal Insurrection, Prof. Jacobson has the scoop on Wonkette’s escalating a recent PhotoShopped image attack on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s one-year-old son who has Down syndrome, Trig Palin. Gov. Palin and her husband, Todd, knew during her pregnancy that Trig would be born with Down syndrome, but due to their pro-life beliefs, made the choice to embrace their fifth child and bring him to term. He was born in April 2008.

As a Democrat and liberal during the fall presidential campaign, with feminist and lesbian-feminist friends possessed of my e-mail address, I received a number of the poisonous and lie-filled viral e-mails attacking Gov. Palin, which I believe account for the drop in her approval ratings among women. I think the reason that feminists who sent these e-mails and now persist in their attacks are so unhinged in their hatred of Gov. Palin is that her love and acceptance of her Down syndrome child takes away one of the scariest and most persuasive arguments in favor of abortion they have — the Down syndrome baby.

I support the right of a woman to choose whether or not to bring her pregancy to term or have an abortion. I think the right to choose is what keeps women free from being taken over by religions and governments and turned into property that makes babies.

I also think the viciousness of the attacks on Gov. Palin and her son, Trig, are going to backfire on supporters of the right to choose. I think their attacks, and David Letterman’s, on Gov. Palin and her children are going to do for conservatives and Republicans what Pat Buchanan’s speech at the 1992 Republican Convention did for the disorganized factions among Democrats. It so enraged them that they stopped forming their firing squads in a circle because at last they realized they had a common enemy and had to cooperate to defeat him.

What I want is for the right to choose to be preserved, but the attacks on candidates’ children to stop. I think the best way to draw a line in the sand is for everyone outraged by attacks on candidates’ and politicians’ children is to get David Letterman fired for his attacks on Gov. Palin’s daughters.

Oh, and it’s worth noting, that the boogey-fetus in China and India is the perfectly healthy baby girl.

Failed Republican perennial candidate Alan Keyes and pro-life advocate Randall Terry have been participating in demonstrations against Pres. Obama and his support of abortion at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana, where Obama is speaking today at the graduation ceremony and receiving an honorary degree.

Both Keyes AND Terry are not famous for abandoning their homosexual children. I cannot find any condemnation of either of them by conservatives for abandoning their homosexual children.

I also have to admit that neither Keyes nor Terry actually said they were fighting for the rights of the unborn since “you can always kill or abandon them later and if they’re gay, not one conservative will utter a word against you.’ They just expressed that with their actions, just as conservatives expressed approval with their silence. After all, making your teenager homeless and penniless for the BEING crime of homosexuality, as Alan Keyes did in 2005 to his daughter Maya, is an utterly moral and righteous thing to do in the moral code of social conservatism. Randall Terry did as much as he could to destroy his son, Jamiel, pre-emptively for the crime of telling the world that he, Jamiel, was gay, according to a story in the Washington Post. In contrast, saying some bad words and getting angry with a beauty queen who just ground her stiletto heel in the face of millions of people who are denied equality in the United States of America is the blackest evil and in the moral equivalency of social conservatism an appropriate justification for sentencing all those millions of people to the hell of inequality forever and ever, amen. (NOT!)

Here’s the deal, people: pro-lifers/anti-abortionists are angry with Obama because he is expressing his opinion. Wasn’t it just a few days ago that expressing an opinion that outraged homosexuals was a sacred act of self-expression? Now the shoe is on the other foot. Now suddenly there’s no sacred First Amendment right because Obama’s opinion has consequences. Well, social conservatives, that’s why homosexuals were and are so angry with Carrie Prejean and the National Organization for Marriage. Her opinion — which also is the opinion of Obama, Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Hillary Clinton — has devastating, life-damaging, even life-destroying consequences for homosexuals. That’s why SOME of us were not all that kind or tactful about expressing our objections. The cruelty and injustice of conservatives who then loudly proclaimed this as their justification for reversing their support for — or continuing to refuse support for any remote facsimile of — equality for homosexuals is beyond measure.

And if the lives of children are so precious and sacred, why have social conservatives been so quiet about all of the lesbian and gay teenagers thrown out of their homes for the BEING crime of homosexuality? Why have Alan Keys and Randall Terry gotten a pass for their abuse and abandonment of their own children? Why are social conservatives so comfortable with this moral crime?

I just received an e-mail from PLAGAL, the Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians, saying the blog I didn’t know they had has been updated. I have added it to my Blogroll.

I have to admit that the PLAGAL booth isn’t thronged on Pride Day — to be celebrated on various Saturdays in June in a city near you — and I don’t expect their blog to change that.

But they exist, and I want my gentle readers to know about them.

I am convinced that the reason pro-choice feminists demonized Sarah Palin and conducted their successful viral e-mail smear campaign of lies to demolish her support by women is Trig, her son with Down syndrome, who just celebrated his first birthday. I believe they did that because the Down syndrome fetus is the boogey-fetus that most successfully scares women into supporting the right to abortion. Medicine has advanced enough to have a reasonably accurate — not 100 percent accurate, just reasonably accurate — test to determine whether a fetus has Down syndrome. And I suspect that quite a lot of women who would sit on the fence forever on the abortion question jump down on the pro-choice side when they contemplate how it would change their lives — and marriages, if they have them — if they had to bring a Down syndrome baby to term.

The choice of Sarah Palin to embrace her Down syndrome baby and the support she has from her husband and other children un-demonizes the Down syndrome child everywhere forever. Even more, it de-mystifies the Down syndrome child because the Palin family is coping with the challenges of his disability in the public spotlight. People will never be as frightened of the Down syndrome boogey fetus again.

Who will be the next boogey fetus?

Bear in mind that the boogey fetus in China and India is any female.

I predict that the instant there is a test announced that claims to predict whether or not a fetus will be born homosexual, then homosexuals will be the next boogey fetus.

The PLAGAL lesbians and gays first saw that day coming from light years away. Or 1990, when the organization was founded.

Should that day come, then totalitarian social conservatives — who are like their counterparts, totalitarian liberals, but with a different checklist — will be in quite the pickle. They will know, or think they know, in the womb, that a member of a group they hate and want to kill — not always directly mind you, so they can keep the appearance of virtue and clean hands, but by eroding the foundations of life in every possible way, cutting the roots of the tree and blocking its sun, so that when it is stunted and later dies, they can deride and mock it and gloat about how defective and evil it was — that one of THOSE PEOPLE has come to be born into their own family.

What will they choose, then?

I do believe that some of them will obtain abortions secretly, just as some of them exploit the gay and lesbian community by having secret sexual liaisons and affairs.

But I’m also positive that the lesbian and gay fetuses brought to term in social conservative families who are aware the post-birth child is most likely homosexual will be tortured unremittingly by efforts to make them straight. If they are looking for techniques, there’s already a book. It’s titled Soul Murder.

Totalitarian feminists were very busy during the presidential campaign fighting for the Obama/Biden ticket and its implacable allies in the Muslim and illegal alien community who believe women are property. They were busiest writing viral poison e-mails filled with plausible lies about Gov. Palin, which, in my opinion, were motivated by her decision — her “choice,” if you will — to bring her Down syndrome fetus to term and lovingly embrace him, special needs and all, just the way he is.

Since the Down syndrome baby is the boogie fetus that pro-choice advocates use to scare fence-sitters into their camp, a mother and family of a Down syndrome child who would model how to love and raise him to his fullest potential in the public spotlight was threat-level DEFCON 1 for destruction. (Note: DEFCON 1 is the highest threat status; DEFCON 5 is the lowest where everything is safe.)

(I AM pro-choice, by the way, but not for the usual reasons, and I’ll get around to explaining another time.)

I think the deceitful viral poison anti-Palin e-mails from totalitarian feminists were responsible for the majority of the loss of support she had among women. As a lesbian, I got a LOT of those e-mails from my friends. It was one of them that launched me on the journey that led me to conservatism and this blog.

One, in particular, made me laugh. It purportedly came from playwright Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues. As it happens, Margaret and I saw her give one of her last performances of it in Washington, D.C., before she opened it up for others to perform. It was a moving and transformative experience and I feel enduring affection for Ms. Ensler as a result.

But it really was the limit that Ms. Ensler was hyperventilating that Sarah Palin was a terrible person who should not be a heartbeat away from the presidency because she hunts wolves from a helicopter.

(Isn’t the part of the story about how the wolves are eating caribou needed to keep humans from starving always left out of the story?)

My reaction was that the best thing to do to protect all those adorable wolves was to get Sarah Palin as far away from them as possible — by electing her as vice president. Also that other guy, McCain or something, as president.

Well! Dontcha know, she’s hunting wolves again, and IMAO and the Weekly Standard have the rest of the story, including a list of other helpful pest-reducing technologies at IMAO.

So — save the wolves! Sarah Palin for president in 2012 (if not sooner)!

Update, 3/20/09: H/T HillBuzz for alerting me to the following video:

Update, 3/20/09: Memeorandum has the round-up today on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin rejection of almost half of the $913 million in stimulus money offered to her state. This action is courageous, wise and prudent, as you will see if you watch the video clip above.

The funds Gov. Palin rejected effectively would have planted time bombs and landmines in Alaska’s budget by starting programs that would only have federal money for a couple of years, gotten people addicted to the programs and then left the state in the unenviable position of either having to stop the programs or raise state taxes and fees to fund them, thus crippling the state’s economy.

Unlike the foolish governors who took the bait of Obama’s “stimulus” money and swallowed it hook, line and sinker, Gov. Palin made the best of a bad program and kept the people of Alaska off the hook for disastrous future expenses. Palin for president in 2012 (or sooner)!

Update, 3/31/09: The carefully coordinated campaign by Democrats to demolish Rush Limbaugh after his stirring speech at CPAC was an epic FAIL that resulted in increased ratings for Rush. So now Gateway Pundit reports the Democrats have targeted Sarah Palin for destruction using Saul Alinsky’s Rule 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.) So now is the time to rally to Sarah Palin and show all they can do is make her more popular than ever and ready for the presidency in 2012!
