After digging out last Saturday, and then this past Wednesday, my husband and I just dug out of 28 inches of snow - and that was where there were no snow drifts! In some places, the drifts were over three feet high. Our house is right next to the neighborhoods favorite sledding run, so I've been entertaining myself watching everyone slide down the hill. We were blessed not to have lost power for an extended period of time, but the constant flickering on and off seems to have blown out our TV. Good thing we don't care about the Superbowl! That was a long way of getting to the point, which is that even in the DC area, a backup generator might be a very good thing in which to invest, don't you think? We get snow and ice, and then vicious thunderstorms in the summer. It's bad enough when you have freezers and refrigerators that have to be powered, but when your life and health depend on it too. it might be worth looking into. We are, and it is a more complicated subject than I anticipated. I really hope all is well with you and your dad. I hope all is well.
