I think that conservatives do not do a very good job of explaining the virtues of conservatism and the problems created by liberal solutions of having the government intrude in every aspect of our lives and have us pay for the privilege. That’s why liberals think of themselves as the good guys, when they do such comprehensive harm by removing the incentives to invent and innovate and squashing initiative.

Like Robin of Berkley says, I’m kind of a recovering liberal. Never thought of that much since my family and I agreed in everything. But in a way, I began to come out three years ago, and since then, things aren’t just the same anymore. They don’t get me (and they really pity me). Even now, as a conservative, I don’t feel I got the “social issues” right (As seen in the last test results, it showed a 100% socially conservative score. Now I feel deeply ashamed about that). I’m waiting to take the same text next year and see again how much I’ve changed (and learned).

I dub thee, Stogie, a lesbian, with all the privileges and hassles pertaining thereto. You may smoke cigars in the smoking lounge. Also in your own house. And in the company of other cigar smokers. And outdoors, as long as you are well down-wind of me. When I was working in the PR department of Union Trust Bank in downtown Baltimore, I was 30 feet from the office of a cigar-smoking vice president and since I was paid hourly, I never strayed far from my typewriter so I could bill as much time as possible. One day I got so sick from the cigar smoke I had to be driven home from Baltimore to Silver Spring. I left not long after that.
