I really rolled my eyes at the lukewarm "Please don't be mad at me daddy!" manner that their declaration was made with.

"Boycott the DNC! Well... just until they find their way... they didn't REALLY mean to lie to us.... they just need a reminder of how good we are to them so they don't take us for granted...."

Just like an abused spouse.....

apodoca,

Jamie Glazov has the answer to your last paragraph in his book, United in Hate.

Also, gays don't hate Christianity -- one of the first things to happen after the Stonewall riots in 1969 was the founding of the Metropolitan Community Church by evangelical Christian Rev. Troy Perry. The MCC has grown and thrived since then. And there are gay organizations specific to pretty much every religion so that gays can worship. However, there ARE social conservative totalitarian Christians who are asking people that they are murdering through the death of second-class citizenship to be nicer about their objections to having their lives de-valued and destroyed by people who are motivated by greed and lust for power -- when they themselves would have a much harsher reaction if the tables were turned.

About the non-negotiable stuff -- actually, Christians are infinitely flexible when they want to be. And that's a good thing.

I do appreciate that you continue to read this blog and have a courteous dialog. And I honor the impulse to do right and love God in everyone.

IMO, homosexuals and American blacks have much in common vis-a-vis the Democrats. The relationship is deeply abusive: promise anything, say anything, use and abuse as tools against the other side, all the while knowing that the Big Lie is being spoken. Then, when the Dems get what they want, "who are you?" More Big Lie, you can't leave us cuz the other guy will never give you what you want; he hates you. I know what you need. I've long counseled young blacks to be pragmatic in their voting choices. Leverage your vote. They don't listen but continue to buy the Democrat Big Lie year after year. I attribute that degree of gullibility to the deceived group's hatred of the other guy. For American blacks the other guy is the GOP; for homosexuals, it's Christians.

As much as you're offering encouragement, Cynthia, I would bet you $20 that your offer will not be taken up. Why? The virulent anti-Christian hatred in the larger homosexual community is what is likely to deter them hugely from joining the GOP. At the core of it is a rejection of the Word and of us because we believe the Word, and a refusal to accept that, while we don't all hate homosexuals (some Christians do, and wrongly s0), the Word is for us a non-negotiable. It says what it says. Our stance is "welcome, but don't expect us to set aside what we believe for you." Nevertheless, it would be good for both groups to dialogue rationally, without the protest marches and the offensive banners or repugnant treatment of representative images of those important to our faith. To sit eye to eye and arrive at an understanding, with reasoned disagreements in the middle and so we can work for the good of the country, would be marvelous. Where we can work together, we work. Where we differ, we differ.

Hillbuzz boys and new arrivants aside, homosexuals are already part of the GOP, and have been—that's what the Log Cabin boys are about. That's what some of our members of Congress are about. We don't have to agree on everything, but we should talk cuz, after all, we're one Party, one Father's children. The debate is likely to be a vigorous and noisy one because the GOP, unlike the Democrats, admits all opinions.

I've always found it wonderfully ironic that so many homosexuals, virulently hating Christians, have found it within them to make common cause with Muslims. I guess the common thread is that the Muslims hate us just as much and would also rid themselves of us if they could. The enemy of my enemy, you know.
