My heart goes out to the dear young gay men in Chicago at HillBuzz as they watch in horror the transformation of the Democratic Party:

What does it mean to be a Democrat today?

This is a question we’re asking ourselves more and more lately, upon witnessing the utter travesty that’s taking place in Washington these days.

What Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are doing in Congress is illegal, criminal, treasonous, and unconstitutional. We’re talking, of course, about the plot to ram through Utopiacare using backdoor, secret, reconcilliation means instead of voting this important, world-changing legislation up or down properly in the House and Senate.

The question becomes, what will Democrats do. Will they man up to the point where they can actually say, “Well, I F****d up” and actually vote to change it? Will they stubbornly cling to party identity no matter what? Or will they take the lumpen cop-out course of “Ah, they’re all alike, who cares who gets in?”

Step one of that would be taking a very long, very hard look at Bill and Hillary Clinton sans the rose colored glasses. The only good thing I can say about them is that they are less blatantly corrupt than Obama and crew. And before someone uses the “well, so is (insert Republican here)!” argument, all of those rats need to be evicted from Washington as well.

“It means to be a Democrat exactly what it meant before Obama was elected. That’s why I left the party after 30+ years in 2008.

“None of this conduct is new since the election. Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, Frank, Dodd were all corrupt, sleazy thieving demagogues for years, and on a scale that would make Newt or Delay weep with envy.. It was just considered ‘progressive’ or ‘liberal’ or, god help us all, ‘decent’ to overlook that in the face of the ‘greater evil’ the GOP and BushBUSHBUUUUUUSH supposedly represented.

“Well, now those demagogues are in power, and Democrats have the government they voted for, either the Jesse Jackson presidency or the second coming of LBJ, in a man with policies he can’t pay for and wars he doesn’t know how to fight…”

For my readers who do not know HillBuzz, it is a blog founded in February 2008 by a group of gay men in Chicago who were volunteering in Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the Democratic nomination for president. They were appalled at the corruption and sexism of the Obama campaign, so when the nomination was stolen from Hillary they switched their support to McCain/Palin. They volunteered for McCain/Palin and spent every penny they could and some even gave up their jobs to work for McCain/Palin. They are devoted supporters of both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. They also generously mentor Republicans at their blog when they think we need it — and they are always right on the money. They are the truest, most loyal, generous, zealous and upright friends that conservatives and Republicans could have and I love them with all my heart.

Cynthia… not disputed. But, sadly, I think the election shows that Hillbuzz is not representative of the Democratic electorate (not a comment on their gender preferences, just on their generally better character).
