About the mosaic I use in my banner -- it's Sappho and I think it was found when Pompeii was re-discovered and unearthed. Since Sappho is the first famous Lesbian (capital "L" since she was from Lesbos), and she was a poet and is holding a pen and book, I thought she was the perfect image to use when I created the banner for my blog.
